Getting started
Why does it need a newer iPhone and iOS 27?
Recipes are written by Apple’s on-device model. That needs an iPhone or iPad with Apple Intelligence (Apple publishes the current device list), and iOS 27 is the first release whose model has room for a full recipe.
On other iPhones, connect your own AI instead. Everything else in the app works the same.
Does it cost anything?
On iOS 27 with Apple Intelligence, generating recipes costs you nothing: it runs on your device.
With your own key, you pay your provider for what you use. Most recipes cost a few cents, and Google Gemini and Groq give free keys with a daily limit.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no account to create, and no server of ours in the middle.
Your own AI
Why doesn’t my ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro subscription work?
Those plans only work inside their own apps. They cannot be used by other apps, and no setting changes that. Your subscription is not broken.
What works here is a pay-as-you-go API key, made in a provider’s developer console. Settings walks you through it in a few minutes.
How do I get a key?
- OpenRouterOne key for many models. Sign in from Settings, or make a key at openrouter.ai.
- GroqFree tier. Make a key at console.groq.com. On the free tier a recipe can wait up to a minute to start.
- Google GeminiFree tier. Make a key at aistudio.google.com.
- AnthropicClaude, pay as you go. Make a key at console.anthropic.com; add billing first.
- A local modelRun LM Studio or Ollama on a computer on your network, and point Settings at it. Nothing leaves your home.
Your key stays on your device. Requests go straight from your phone to the provider you chose.
Why does an OpenAI key work on iPhone but not in a browser?
OpenAI’s API does not let web pages call it directly, and the usual workaround is to send your requests through a server of ours, which this app will not do. In the iPhone app, a direct OpenAI key works. In a browser, use an OpenRouter key to reach GPT models.
Allergens and nutrition
How does the allergen check work?
Tell the app what you avoid, and every recipe is checked against 14 allergen families, including hidden sources like the fish in Worcestershire sauce and the wheat in ordinary soy sauce.
It is a check on the AI’s work, not a guarantee. It reads ingredient names; it cannot see brands, processing or cross-contamination. Always read the labels on what you cook with.
Can I trust the nutrition numbers?
They are estimates made by the AI, labelled that way on every card. Use them for orientation, not for medical or dietary management. The app makes no health claims.
Your data
What happens to my data?
Nothing reaches us. Your recipes, pantry, notes and key stay on your device. With iCloud backup on, your recipes, pantry, shopping list and profile are also kept in your own private iCloud storage, which we cannot see. Your key never is.
When you ask for a recipe, the request goes only to the model you use: Apple’s, or the provider you chose. The privacy policy has the details.
Will my recipes come back if I reinstall?
On iPhone, yes, if you are signed in to iCloud and Back up to iCloud is on in the app’s Settings. Reinstall, use the same iCloud account, and your recipes, pantry and shopping list come back when the app opens.
Before you delete the app, use Export library in Settings to save a copy to Files. Without iCloud backup, deleting the app deletes your recipes.
Still stuck? Write to us.
A person reads every email. The app has no analytics or crash reports, so your email is how we find out something is wrong. Say what you did, what you expected, and what happened. A screenshot helps.
